Details
The CA7708 narrowband HF receiver is the original '8-Pack' high performance receiver platform offering up to 8 independent receiver modules covering 2MHz to 30MHz.
The architecture of the CA7708 receiver provides excellent dynamic range, and displays superior performance over wideband receiver systems - particularly in high signal level RF environments.

The CA7708 platform can hold up to 8 HF narrowband receiver modules (tuner digitiser modules). Individual RF inputs of 2 - 30MHz are routed to each module. Within each module the analogue RF front end allows user definable gain, attenuation and filtering, after which the signal is digitised at a nominal bandwidth of 25kHz, and down-converted to baseband in the digital domain.
The CA7708 uses high dynamic range 16-bit A/D converters. The data stream is made available as time-stamped complex I / Q data in VITA-49.0 format. Control and data output is via the fibre Gigabit Ethernet interface (1000BASE-SX).
The CA7708 Narrowband Receiver provides the capability to operate 8 receiver modules in a phase coherent mode, selectable by software control. The CA7708 is able to accept a 1 Pulse per Second (1PPS) trigger, and 10MHz reference signal input.
The CA7708 receiver platform is housed in a 2U 19" rackmount chassis, designed to operate in EMC sensitive environments. Power input is 24VDC, or by 90/240VAC universal supply. The receiver has extensive Built In Self Test (BITE). BITE allows local or remote monitoring of system status & health. The system supports multiple simultaneous users.
Systems
The CA7708 Narrowband receiver can form part of a larger signal collection system. See CommsAudit GIST to complete the HF signal collection package.
